Problem removing group header

Using SS2000, RS2000, VS2003
I have a report that displays group totals and grand totals but no detail
lines. There is nothing in the group header. I made the height of the group
header as small as possible but there is still too much room between the rows
when the report is run.
I tried removing the group header and that works as far as the space between
rows. However, after removing the group header and running the report, I
noticed that nothing in the report footer was showing up.
Any ideas? Thanks,

you discovered, changing the visibility here affects the whole group.
Make sure the properties window is visible in report designer (menu: View >>
Properties Window) and then select the group header row you want to hide. Now
find the Visibility property in the properties window, expand it and set
Hidden = True.

group header to false, the report header and footer both disappear, like
they've also been changed to false. I don't see a visibility setting for the
report header and footer under properties, though. Do you have any idea what
happened? If I change the visibility of the group header back to true, the
report header and footer both appear again.

problem opening data connection

Using SS2000, RS2000, VS2003. I'm trying to make changes to some reports that
someone else created. I'm not very familiar with either RS or VS. When I go
into VS and load the solution (someone told me how to find the correct one)
and then in the solution explorer, I double click on the report that I want
to change. Then I click on the "Data" tab and I get this error:
"A connection cannot be made to the database. Set and test the connection
string. SQL Server does not exist or access denied." I double clicked on the
rds file under "Shared Data Sources" and looked on the General tab. This is
the connection string "data source=localhost;initial catalog=SMCLMS_Dev. I
think the contractor developed on his local machine and then deployed to the
development server. I don't have RS on my machine. Will it hurt anything if
I change the connection string to point to the development server?

If I create a new data source and a new report in the same solution, how do
I deploy it? If I don't use VS2003 to deploy do I take both the rds and rdl
files and upload them to the reports folder? Or is the rds file incorporated
in the rdl file and I just have to upload the rdl file?

> > Dan D.|||If you deploy the rdl from VS2003 it will automatically deploy the rds, if it
hasn't been deployed before. The default is not to allow deployed rds to be
overwritten.
You can also deploy both the rds and rdl by uploading from the Report Manager.

when you just click "deploy". When you deploy all the details are stored in
tables in an encrypted form so just copying is not the solution.. Other way
is through scripts. using RS.exe
Let me know if you require it or just go to sample.RSS at
\Samples\Reporting Services\Script Samples and select publishsample report.
Just see how to publish a report and you can change accordingly.

Problem loading satellite assemblies in RS2000

Hi,

I have a problem calling Assembly.GetSatelliteAssembly inside a custom assembly referenced by a report. This assembly is used only for localization, and all it does is load the appropriate localized satellite assembly and pull a translated string out of it. The problem doesn't manifest itself if the report is viewed by a user that has higher privileges, but for a user with only the Browser role the GetSatelliteAssembly method throws a System.IO.FileLoadException "Access is denied: Resources.resources" (the custom assembly is called Resources.dll).

The assembly has no strong key and has the AllowPartiallyTrustedCallers attribute in AssemblyInfo. I did set fullTrust in the rssrvpolicy.config, like this:

I'm using RS2000 SP2 with the whatsit hotfix (build no. 1402, IIRC). Note that this exception doesn't seem to appear if I try the same report in RS2005, but migrating is currently not an option.

What should I do? If this is a bug in RS2000 is there a workaround? Any suggestions are welcome.

The old rule has proven true again, the answer comes by itself once you post the question to others...

The fusion log showed that GetSatelliteAssembly searches for the satellite dll in the ReportServer/bin folder, but also in Temporary ASP.Net Files... So, one part of the solution was to give the user modify permission on it. The other part was to give him read permission on the satellite assembly - and this is strange because the main assembly doesn't require extra permissions, but the satellite assembly does.

I'm sure I'm not seeing the big picture here, so if someone can shed any amount of light () on this issue, it would be appreciated.

Problem install RS2000

hi,I have a W2003 Server Standard Edition.I Installed VS2005 with ASP 2.0
,For some reasons My DB is SQL SERVER 2000.
Now I tried to install RS2000-So first I installed VS2003 and when the
install started i got error that ASP.NET 1.1 isn't registered,although it is!
So I removed The IIS(6.0) and Re-installed it,and then I preform
"aspnet_regiis.exe -i" for both 1.1 and 2.0 but still i get this error that
1.1 isn't register...
Any Idea?Several issues. First, if you want RS 2005 can use SQL 2000 for its
object/metadata storage. If your server is on a different box than where you
are developing you do not need to install VS at all.
RS 2000 tries to install to the default website. Check in IIS what version
of dotnet the default website is running. It must be 1.1.
