Problem on Cube processing

Thanks for your kind attention again.

I encountered a strange problem-whenever I process the cube(which is a small cube only, as I have already selected its partitions based on date dimension and the whole cube only with less than 1000 rows records), but I always got the problem which runs out the system drive space and of course resulted in the failure of the processing of the cube. I have actually manually allocated the storage locations which are not on the local system drive? Why did that problem happen and how can I figure it out?

That's really frustrated problem and please give me any advices and help on this if you have have any ideas what is going on for this.

What AS do you have AS2K or AS2K5?

Please, take attention to the queries that are send to data source sql server. I think you have somewhere cartesian product in your cube design that leads to the data explosion.

I am running AS2005. Yes, I have found the cause of the problem, as the fact table where the measure group is from is too big with over million records, thus even though my cube has been partitioned with only less than 1 thousand records, as the processing always need to query into the whole fact table still which thus resulting in the running out of the system drive space (as I am doing some test with my virtual machine at the moment only, which only has a poor system drive storage.)

I have then particularly partiton the fact table with only a small proportion of data for the cube, and now the processing is ok then.

Problem joining 2 Views

Hi guys,

I detected a strange behaviour when doing an inner join of two views.

There is table_Objects, table_Contracts and view_Objects, View_Contracts.

Table_Objects: ID, Price
View_Objects: Select * from Table_Objects Where Price > 10

Table_Contracts: ID, Year
View_Contracts: Select c.ID, c.Year
From Table_Contracts c Join View_Objects o on c.id=o.id

Quiete simple so far, but it doesn't work. Imagine Object with id 3 that is shown in View_Objects and Table_Contracts but not shown in View_Contracts. How is that possible?

There is a FK from Table_Contract(ID) to Table_Objects(ID)|||Oh, just realized that I'm joining a view and a table and not 2 views.

Problem Installing SQL 2000 Sp4

While upgrading Sql 2000 Sp3 thge installer is starting to install the service pack. But after running the scripts he gives a very strange error.

error running: 80sp4-tools.sql (1).

after searching and living on google for 3 days for information about this error, I'am no

really desperate.

I hope someone help me or tell me more about this error.

That problem looks exactly as my problem but, the sp4 is starting to install till script 80sp4-tools.sql. and then the installer stops with the same as in the given thread.

the only error that was given in the log file was "(1)"

Problem Installing MS-SQLSERVER on Laptop

:confused: I have a strange problem, and I need to know what would be the source of this. I have a laptop computer with the following configuration:

Pentium III
Brand : Toshiba
Speed : 500 Mhz
RAM : 192 MB
Hard Disk : 6 GB
Space Available : 4 GB
O.S. : Windows 98

The computer works pretty good and run different applications. I was trying to install MS-SQLSERVER 2000 and I checked out the software and hardware requierements for that and everything seems to be fine. The reason that I need it its because of my trips, and its incredible I have a desktop computer with almost the same configuration and runs pretty good.

When you have a problem installing SQL-SERVER 2000 you have a file called cnfgsvr with all the explanation. I got this at hand so you can see better the problem:

Accordiing to the message shown in the bottom line, we may see its like the installation were stopped because of a request of the Control Service Manager. I never stop the installation or something like that but I dont have a clue why or where is the problem here.

My desktop computer is standalone and works without problems. Of course I read that if you have PWS ( Personal Web Server ) running you may need to stop that first, and then proceed. I did it and it never worked.

If you have any suggestion about it, this would be greatly appreciated.
