Problem opening UDF

Hey,

I am using SQL Server 2005 client tools on a 2000 server. Everything works fine except ................

WHen I try to open (Modify) a user defined function, an error msg appears saying "QuotedIdentifier property not available for the function"

Anyone having same problem and found solution?

This sounds like the following bug, which is scheduled to be fixed in Service Pack 1:

problem of creating database

I am using Visula Studio 2005. When i try to create database from the visual studio Tools option-> careate database and press ok then following error occur......

Failed to generate a user instance of SQL Server due to a failure in copying database files. The connection will be closed.

how can i fix the problem?

first of all you must have a clear picture what is this User intance and do u really want to create user instance. if the answer is yes refer this link the problem is discussed here

http://forums.microsoft.com/msdn/showpost.aspx?postid=98346&siteid=1

If you don't need user instance then go to SQL Server man agement studio and create database

i have told that when i am creating database in SQL SERVER 2005, it shows that it can't create instance of sql server. it clearly explains that the user instance is Sql Server instance. See my problem again.......

Here is the error

........

Failed to generate a user instance of SQL Server due to a failure in copying database files. The connection will be closed.

But...do you want to create user instance, or do you want to create a database on a server instance ? If the latter, you will have to use the server explorer, not the Add New Item > Database.

If you want to create a user instance, you will need to have SQLExpress installed on the machine and configured in the database option of Visual Studio.

Problem installing SSQL Server 2000 client tools

Hi,

I'm trying to re-install SQL Server 2000 Desktop Engine and
SQL Server client tools. I have succesfully re-installed the desktop engine,
but I am getting the following error message when attempting to re-install the
client tools.

"Setup has detected an existing client tools only installation.
Please use the maintenance mode to add client components"

Unfortunately the Upgrade/Add/Remove option is greyed out as
an install option.

I attempted the registry hive rebuild option and the install appeared
to succeed. However, I cannot access any tools (Enterprise Manager
comes up with the message "The selected file cannot be found").

At this point, the desktop engine appears in Add/Remove programs
Window, but no other SQL Server components.

Any help very much appreciated!

Eric Yeoman.
Eventually solved the problem by manually uninstalling SQL Server;

Problem Installing SQL Mobile 2005 Tools

I'm trying to install the SQL Mobile 2005 Server tools on a Windows 2003
Server with IIS & MSSQL 2000 sp4.

I've stuck .NET 2.0 on already, but the installer for the server tools
Sqlce30setupen.msi just goes straight to the last page of the wizard and says
the install was interrupted.

I've run the install with logging turned on and this is the last portion of
the trace. Can anyone shed any light on whats going wrong.

Are you able to repro on any other machine? From log it appears to me that, MDAC, IIS, and SQL 2K are all detected and their properties are changed appropriately. Is that WIN2K3 is upto SP1? If it is so, then only one thing left is .NET FX 2.0. Did you install .NET FX 2.0 after running the MSI and realizing that you need .NET FX 2.0 inorder to proceed?

Try out on a fresh clean PC and let us know how things go there?

From your posting http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=202038&SiteID=1, I understand that you were finally able to install the tools. By the way, what was the problem you faced and how did you resolve it?

Thanks,

problem installing latest MSDE

I had three problems installing the MSDE.
First, I have SQL Server 7 tools installed and must use Enterprise Manager
to get to an SQL Server 7. When I install MSDE it kills my SQL Server 7
tools. No servers show up anymore and it says I can't add any. Uninstalling
MSDE does not put things back.
Second, no menu is created on the start menu as the instructions say will
happen. I had to look around and find the EXE files.
I am accustomed to doing all my work through Enterprise Manager. I see no
Enterprise Manager facsimile or anything to use for creating a database or
setting up tables in MSDE. ThanksSorry, I don't have a solution, but I can say the reason to why this is happening:
MSDE 2000 installs the DMO dll's. EM uses DMO. And EM7 cannot use the SQL2K DLL's. So, then MSDE
installs the SQL2K DLL's, then the install has to remove EM7 as that wouldn't work anyhow. Perhaps
there's an MSDE install option which doesn't install DMO?
